What is DKIM?

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is a way to prove that emails sent on your behalf are legitimate. It’s like a digital signature that email providers check to verify you authorised the send.

Why should I set it up?

  • Emails sent without DKIM show “via send.splashsend.com” in Gmail — which can look less professional
  • Authenticated emails are more likely to reach the inbox
  • It builds trust with email providers over time

How to set it up

  1. Go to Setup and find the Email Sender Setup section
  2. Click Authenticate domain
  3. You’ll see 3 CNAME records to add to your domain’s DNS
  4. Log into your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.)
  5. Add each CNAME record exactly as shown
  6. Come back to SplashSend and click Verify

How long does it take?

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 72 hours to propagate. If verification fails, wait and try again later.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure you copied the CNAME records exactly — including any trailing dots
  • Some registrars automatically add your domain to the record name — check that it’s not duplicated
  • If you’re using Cloudflare, make sure the proxy is turned off (grey cloud) for CNAME records
